LANSING, N.Y. (WENY) -- On October 13th, 2023, around 7:00 p.m., deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office, along with Fire and EMS, were sent to the area of Warren Road and Hillcrest Road in the Town of Lansing for a reported motor vehicle collision with injuries.

Police said when deputies arrived on the scene, they found a male victim unconscious and not breathing laying in the roadway. Deputies and EMS personnel performed life saving actions until the victim could be taken to a local hospital.

Police said a preliminary on-scene investigation revealed that the victim was operating a motorized skateboard northbound on Warren Road, in the same direction as a motor vehicle that was approaching him from behind. The vehicle struck the skateboarder from behind. 

Police said the victim, whose identity is being withheld at this time, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by New York State Police, Lansing Fire Department, and Bangs Ambulance.
