SAYRE, P.A. (WENY) -- A study from the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) says that Guthrie's three Pennsylvania-based hospital contributed a total of $789 million to the Northern Tier's local economy. The study also showed that Guthrie contributed nearly $75 million towards community based efforts such as charity care and support through programs like Medicaid and Medicare.

In addition the study noted that hospitals across the commonwealth contributed $9 billion through community benefit in the fiscal year 2022. Pennsylvania hospitals employ over 590,000 within state lines.
