Looking ahead to the 65th Annual Downtown Elmira Holiday Parade
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Elmira Downtown Development is gearing up to host the 65th annual Downtown Elmira Holiday Parade. People can look forward to seeing 30 floats that have been glamorized and updated for another successful holiday event.
Deb Sullivan, the coordinator for this year’s parade, said there have been nine new units added to the lineup. Children will be able to interact with well-known characters, dance to music, and see performers from around the area.
There will also be more participation from Elmira’s merchants, in the attempt to make a comeback for the downtown area of the city.
Sullivan said Elmira Downtown Development has been making small improvements to the parade, year after year, since the organization took over the event a couple of years ago. She added, it is the organization’s goal to make the event as fun as possible for families.
“Some people may never get to Disneyland, may never get to an amusement park...Elmira has a huge parade with all of these characters and floats,” Sullivan said.
The parade will take place on November 24th, starting at 10:00 a.m.
