(WENY) -- FLXGives, an annual fundraiser for the Finger Lakes region, has returned for another 24-hour online celebration. This fundraiser is also known as Finger Lakes Gives and it is an initiative that helps support nonprofits in the region.

This year’s “Giving Day” is kicking off on Nov. 16th at 6:00 p.m. and will be going on until 6:00 p.m. tomorrow Nov. 17th.

"This is the community's opportunity to really celebrate philanthropy and give back to the nonprofit organizations that give us so much here," said Sara Shaut, Vice President of Programs at the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and The Finger Lakes, inc. "We all go to libraries, we adopt pets at the SPCA, we enjoy downtown festivities, so they do those things for us. So now we can give back to those organizations"

Nonprofits are going to get an opportunity to win cash prizes, reach new donors, and engage with current donors who have their support in the past.

Last year, this event raised nearly $225,000 from over 1,000 donors to benefit 90 nonprofits. Shaut says their 2023 goal is to fundraise $300,000.

This year there are 108 non-profits participating including but not limited to:

  • Corning Community Food Pantry
  • The ARTS Council
  • Southeast Steuben County Library
  • Glove House, INC.
  • Laura Richardson Houghton Corning Youth Center
  • Chemung Vallery Montessori School
  • Cantata Singers

When the 24 hours conclude Friday evening, there will be a celebration that is free and open to the public at the Corning Museum of Glass.
