(WENY) -- Author Virgina Palmiter has a new book coming out called “The Red Blanket.” The Tioga County writer will be showing off her latest children’s book at the Red Door Café and Community Room, located at 239 Broad Street in Waverly, on Dec. 9th at 1:00 p.m.

Palmiter said the story is about how a used red blanket ends up serving others in need. She came up with the idea for the story while she was working at the Tioga County Open Door Mission in Owego. She saw a red blanket that needed a new home.

“I saw the blanket hanging there and thought ‘that blanket can be used for so many things,’ and I go thinking...what would I use this blanket for” she said.

Palmiter said she uses examples from her own life to tie into her professional work. She wants to be able to give back to the community with the messages from her stories.
