HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- The southern tier has got a new addition to the region's fast food game. Jersey Mike's subs opened it's doors in Horseheads on Wednesday morning.

To help hit the ground running, the new location said they are raising money for the Horseheads Central School District. 

WENY news went over to check out opening day to see how things were going and spoke to the owner of the new location, Evan Mayer.

"We opened at 10:00 a.m., but unlocked the door around 9:30 for a couple of customers that were waiting outside. So far it's been a lot of very positive feedback and everyone trying our hot and cold subs here at the store," added Mayer, "Jersey Mike's is a great authentic sub sandwich, everything is fresh sliced, fresh grilled. We get here about 5:30, six AM everyday to bake the bread and slice the onions and slice the lettuce here in the store, and you can definitely taste the quality of the product," said Mayer. 

If you're interested in checking out Jersey Mike's, they are located on County Route 64 in Horseheads right next to the Starbucks in the same plaza as Walmart.
