Elmira College starts fundraising efforts for Dance Marathon
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Elmira College is hosting a Valentine's Spaghetti Dinner on Feb. 10, to help kickstart it's annual Dance Marathon fundraiser. The fundraiser benefits the NICU at Arnot Health through the Children's Miracle Network.
"A lot of [the money} also goes to... what we put together for the event itself," said Gabriella Swift, a Sophomore at Elmira College. "Whether it be decorations, or whether it be setting up the raffle booth, or other things that we have going on."
The spaghetti dinner costs $15 a person. Tickets include the dinner, which is takeout or dine-in, and a ticket to a raffle to win a stuffed giraffe. There will also be a bake sale at the event.
The event is happening at the Stephans Lounge in Meier Hall on the campus. Guests can pay at the door.
Dance Marathon, which is a 10 hour event, has been happening at Elmira College since 2016.
"COVID kind of affected us," said Hailey Clancey, a Senior at Elmira College. "We're trying to just build the program back up and build awareness towards this cause."
This year, the Dance Marathon will take place on March 23. People interested in registering for the event can sign up at their website. Interested parties can also donate through the site.
