HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Ethel, WENY's Pet of the Week from the Horseheads Community Animal Shelter!

Ethel is about a 7-year-old, middle-aged, cat. She is a mixed breed who loves to explore and cuddle up with her owners. Officials from the Horseheads Community Animal Shelter say Ethel loves to be around people, tolerates dogs, but is selective with her cat companions.

"If she does go to a home with another cat, we'd prefer they be more on the calm side and not [be] super jumpy on her," said Mojave Moffett, who takes care of Ethel.

The shelter says Ethel is missing a couple teeth, so she will need to eat more wet food than dry food to help her chew.

The Horseheads Community Animal Shelter has an event planned for Wednesday. Representatives will be at an adoption event at Bethany Village. Organizers say there will be plenty of cats, and maybe a dog there with them.

The shelter is asking interested folks for donations of cat and dog food, as well as toys and treats, like catnip.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Ethel, fill out an application on the Horseheads Community Animal Shelter website to be considered.
