NYS Citizen Preparedness Corps to Train Residents to be Ready for Weather Disasters

CORNING, NY (WENY) -- Residents can learn how to be better prepared for severe weather events and disasters at an upcoming event in Corning.
The New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps will provide a one-hour training program. The goal is to educate people on what to do in various severe weather events.
The program helps provide people with the tools and resources to prepare for both natural or man-made disasters, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible. Topics to be covered include developing an emergency family plan, and stocking up on supplies. Participants will receive one family preparedness kit.
The event will be held on February 29th at 6:30PM at Corning Painted Post High School, in the auditorium. All participants must register in advance by visiting www.prepare.ny.gov. The event is open to any resident of New York state.
