ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A joint collaboration between Elmira College and Elmira Little Theatre is bringing a production of 'A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder' to life on April 5.

"It's been a lot of fun. It's a wide variety of people from all walks of life, and I really have enjoyed getting to learn from this amazing cast. As a college student, it's a rare opportunity to branch outside our campus, so I'm enjoying it," said Joyanna Lynn, an Elmira College Student involved in the production.

The show follows a man who learns he is eighth in line for an earldom. The current Earl is dying and the man, Monty Navarro, takes actions into his own hands to ensure he gets the spot, resorting to murder in the most "creative and hysterical ways," according to the showrunner.

Elizabeth Fresquez, also acting in the show, has been performing with the Elmira Little Theatre for over 30 years. She spoke to how it felt to work with college students.

"They've got this energy to them, and this excitement to them. It makes a real good community cast for that very reason," Fresquez said.

'A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder' opens in Elmira College's Gibson Theatre on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. Other performances of the play are scheduled for Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m. The show will re-air in the Clemens Center at the end of April.

"Expect the unexpected," said Fresquez. "It's like nothing you've seen before."

Tickets are free for Elmira College students, employees and children under 12. It is $25 for adults, or $20 for senior citizens and other students. There is a discounted rate for tickets bought 6 or more at a time. To reserve your showtime, click here.
