ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- An Elmira police officer was evaluated at the hospital after another car collided with the cruiser while responding to a call for service on Monday.

According to EPD, around 5:45PM Monday, officers tried to stop a person who was walking on Clemens Center Parkway, who then ran from police. The officers radioed for assistance for other units to respond. An EPD officer in a marked patrol car with its emergency lights activated responding to the call was hit by another vehicle in the area of Clemens Center Parkway and East 5th Street.

Police say the driver of the other vehicle was not hurt; the officer in the patrol car was evaluated at the hospital and released.
