ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - As part of their reopening on Friday, April 19th, The Dunkin' location at 1141 Broadway Street in Elmira presented a check dedicated to Officer Theetge and his family to aid in recovery efforts.

The money given to Theetge comes from the fundraiser hosted by several Dunkin' locations across Chemung County. After selling specialty donuts at their stores, the shops collected $9000 in donations. Today, the reopening Dunkin' in Elmira was able to present their share of raised funds that totaled to $1000.

"When the community is in need, this is where this community rises above," said Jennifer Herrick-Mcgonigal, President and CEO of the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce. "It's such a giving and generous community so we applaud Dunkin' Donuts for doing everything they did for the family. The family is one of our own and we wanna make sure that they're taken care of so I applaud everybody's efforts in that."

Being backed by the BAPA Network, employees at the Elmira Dunkin' were able to help choose which cause they supported. They plan to continue working with one another to give back to the community through fundraisers like these for many years to come.

"The biggest misconception with Dunkin' is that we're not local people, that the owners aren't local people," said Lyndsay Doyle, Director of Operations for BAPA Network. "The thing about it is we're all local, we all live in Chemung County, our kids grow up here. So, you know, it pulls at our heartstrings too and it's important to us as well when a member of the community is hurt and if there's something that we can do and leverage our brand, we love to do that and participate in the community."
