(WENY) -- From Buffalo, New York to Las Vegas, Nevada, one violinist made her dream become a reality. Now, she tours with the Femmes of Rock across the country showcasing a unique performance.

"When I was very young, my heroes were classic rock, electric guitar players. I listened to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush... I listened to a lot of bands like that [and] that's kind of what I wanted to do, but I wanted to translate that to my instrument and I'm a violinist. So, I started transcribing these solos, messing with effects pedals, and trying to put them on the electric violin. On my social media pages, you can find covers of all of these solos where I try and emulate the sounds and the styles of my favorite guitar players. [Then] I turned that into a full production show," said the Lead Violinist and Creator of the Femmes of Rock, Nina DiGregorio.

Before the Femmes of Rock group, when Nina was in college at the University at Buffalo, she was a waitress at Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls.

"I remember in my pre-shifts, I would look at all the instruments on the wall and I would think someday I want one of my instruments to be up there. It kind of gave me the inspiration to go out West and try and do this idea that I had to have this rock, electric strong group," said DiGregorio.

After graduation, DiGregorio ventured west with her violin and a dream.

"When I moved to Las Vegas after college, I got to meet a lot of the other performers. I started with a group called the Bella Electric Strings, which we still have but it's just corporate entertainment. It's like a modular electric string group. It could be one solo violinist or it could be a string quartet. Then, we had someone attend one of those corporate events and say they owned a theater and wanted to know if we had a ticketed stage show because they thought it was so cool," said DiGregorio.

From there, the rest was history. DiGregorio wrote and put together specialized medleys with singing and electric violin solos with high-energy rock music.

"It's not like any other show you've ever seen I'm pretty sure. We may be the only one that's doing something just like this right now at this level. It's not a classical concert. You're not going to see strings playing Beethoven, but it's not a standard rock concert either. It's a rock concert with a twist with different instrumentation," said DiGregorio.

DiGregorio said her next project is an original album.

"We've got this show where we do all this classic rock stuff. We cover the famous guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, [and] David Gilmore. I've been working a little bit on some original music. I think adding that into the repertoire is going to be the next step and continuing to expand our show to different venues and maybe even outside the United States. I know we have a lot of Canadian fans now and even quite a few in Europe. We haven't been there yet with the show, so I think that's on the horizon for us in the next couple of years," said DiGregorio.

The Femmes of Rock will perform at First Arena in Elmira on April 26th, at 7:30 p.m. To purchase tickets or a VIP package, click here.
