(WENY) -- Get ready to lace up your running shoes. The race around Seneca Lake is gearing up with 305 teams of seven runners each. They’ll be following a scenic route down the west side on Route 14, through Watkins Glen, and back along the eastern shore. Teammates will pass through four counties and the village of Watkins Glen, running right through Seneca Lake wine country.

The excitement starts early on Sunday, April 28th, with six waves kicking off at 5:45 a.m. The last wave will hit the road at 9 a.m. Organizers are expecting over 2,000 runners to participate, supported by hundreds of volunteers.

The Seneca7 will feature more than 300 seven-member teams, including many from across upstate New York.

Since its start in 2011, the event has been about more than just cardio. The Seneca7 focuses on raising thousands of dollars for more than 40 not-for-profit organizations.
