ATHENS TOWNSHIP, PA. (WENY) -- A man was arrested Sunday for allegedly kidnapping a mother and her son out of their home in Elmira New York, in violation of a restraining order.

According to an affadavit and criminal complaint obtained by to WENY News, Damion Gooden broke into their apartment Sunday around 12:30 a.m., and beat the mother in her bed before tying her up in the living room in a kitchen chair. Police say Gooden was threatening her with a knife during this time as well.  

Around 5 a.m., police say Gooden took the mother and her son, who is 13, out of the house and into her car. He told them he was taking them to Philly, according to the affadavit. 

Gooden stopped for gas in Athens at a gas station. Police say when he got out of the car, his phone fell out of his pocket. The mother was able to grab the phone and called 911, alerting police about what was going on. 

An officer arrived at the gas station as Gooden was pulling out with the mom and son still inside. The officer tried to pull him over, but Gooden continued down the road for about a mile before stopping. 

Police say when they pulled Gooden over, he immediately got out of the car and surrendered to police. Police found the knife he allegedly threatened the mother with between the passenger side door and seat.

According to police, Gooden confessed to the crimes during processing at the Athens Township Police Department.

Police charged Gooden with nine counts, including: Contempt for Violation of Order of Agreement, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Terroristic Threats with the Intent to Terrorize Another, Endangering the Welfare of Children, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude an Officer, Unlawful Restraint causing Serious Bodily Injury, Unlawful Restraint of a Minor, Kidnapping to Inflict Terror and Kidnapping of a Minor.

Police have not identified the victims, but said the 13-year-old is not Gooden's son. According to the affadavit, the mother took out the restraining order against Gooden on April 12, just eight days before the incident.

He is currently in the Bradford County Jail with a $2 million bail.
