UPDATE (4/25) 5:30 p.m. -- The Athens Township Police Department have identified the three people that died in a single car crash in the early morning hours Tuesday on Riverside Drive in Athens Township.

Police say a Nissan Altima with three people inside was driving at a "high rate of speed", the car lost control, left the right side of the roadway, and hit a parked pickup truck.

According to a press release sent to WENY News by the Police Department, the driver and two passengers in the vehicle all died at the scene. Police identified the driver as 46-year-old Brett Relyea. Melanie Schnurbusch, a 42-year-old, and 46-year-old Arthur Bidlack were both passengers in the Altima.

Athens Township Police say their investigation is still ongoing. Results from a toxicology report are also pending.


ATHENS TWP, PA. (WENY) -- Three people died after a single car crash happened in Athens Township early Tuesday morning.

According to the Athens Township Police Department, the crash happened just after 2:30 a.m. on Riverside Drive. They say a sedan traveling at a high speed lost control and left the road, where it hit a parked truck.

Police say all three adults inside the car died as a result. The people have not yet been identified.
