SAYRE, PA (WENY) -- A Sayre man is in the Bradford County jail, after police discovered a number of drugs, cash, and other drug-related items in a home.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Sayre Borough Police, they arrested Wyatt R. Yanney on Sunday, April 28th. According to police, they investigated a tip of suspected drug activity at an apartment on Draper Street in the borough.

When police arrived on the scene, officers said Yanney answered the door, but said it was not him when officers asked his name. In the court documents, the officer described Yanney as slamming the door in the officers' face, with the one officers' pinky getting caught between the door and the frame.

Other officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter around the home, ordering Yanney to come outside. Police say they then forced entry into the apartment, and took Yanney into custody without incident in the kitchen, but noted he had just come out of the bathroom, where officers heard a toilet flush, and Yanney's clothes were wet.

According to Sayre police, several types of drugs and paraphernalia were in plain view, including methamphetamine, mushrooms, pipes and other materials.

Police received a warrant to search the home, seizing a large "meth rock", various paraphernalia including bongs, pipes, packing materials and a scale, empty pill capsules, several containers with residue, methamphetamine, cell phones, cash, and several plastic containers reportedly growing mushroom spores.

The court documents filed by police also stated a majority of the items recovered, including mushroom containers were located in an area in plain view and accessible to children, as two children were living in the apartment.

Yanney previously served time in federal prison, after he was convicted in 2015 with importing illicit bath salts, and distributing the drugs in throughout Bradford County, Pennsylvania and New York.

According to data with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), he was released in October of 2023.
