CORNING, N.Y. -- With classes coming to a close and summer fast approaching students at CCC showcased their work to their peers at the campus Commons. A wide range of crafts and projects were on display with some being interactive.

"This is our fourth student expo, it is a celebration of our students' work. It is similar to a science fair, students are going to make projects. They've got posters and other ways to describe and display their projects on the tables and the judges are walking around, talking to them," said Jennifer Sellers, CCC's Director of Innovative Learning Sites.

From dynamic textiles to science experiments and even video game demonstrations, there were plenty of unique displays at this year's Annual Student Expo. Displays served as a culmination of hours of dedication to their respective disciplines.

"Our project is the Super Matt-Joe Brothers. It is an iconic Corning Community College spin on the CS Major here in the theme of the Original Super Mario Brothers. In the course of our class we worked on a system that is similar to the original hardware that Nintendo had back in the 1980s to produce the original Super Mario Brothers," remarked Giancarlo Salce, a Computer Science Major at CCC.

Giancarlo Salce along with his partner Carter Mazzaraco poured hours of time and effort into Super Matt-Joe Brothers -- and plan to continue fine-tuning the game moving forward.

"Over the summer/next semester hopefully we'll work more on this and get it working better and making it better obviously, I mean that's the plan hopefully," said Mazzaraco, who is also a computer science major.

The expo serves a way to celebrate the hard work of CCC's students as they wrap up another year of education before the summer break and graduation for some.

Following the conclusion of the expo -- multiple cash awards were handed out to several of the exhibits. Salce and Mazzaraco won awards of Student Choice, Best Group Project, and Best Use of Technology.
