ATHENS, P.A. (WENY) - Last week, Athens senior Grace Cobb signed her letter of intent to swim at Wilkes University. Now, another student-athlete from the Wildcats is set to compete for the Colonels.

Nate Polzella signed on Tuesday to play football for Wilkes.

Polzella helped anchor the offensive line at center for the Wildcats this season where he helped the team to the District IV Class AAA playoffs before falling to Danville in the quarterfinals. Polzella will join a Wilkes program that finished 5-6 overall and 4-2 in the Landmark Conference last season.

After making things official, Polzella talked about the excitement of getting this opportunity and why Wilkes was the right fit for him.

"Just to be able to go for another four years and play football and kind of the skill of it and I'm really excited to meet all of the new guys and I'm ready for the next chapter," Polzella said.

"The ratio to students, they all know their names, it's a pretty good school I've heard the Engineering major is good there and that's what I plan on doing," he added.

Nate also took some time to thank those who have helped him get to this point.

"Definitely my coaches, my parents, my family. They've done a good job helping me out," he said.
