UDPATE: 5/7/2024 1 p.m. -- State Police have identified the student as 19-year-old Max Ross. Police say he is currently stable at Robert Packer Hospital. 

UPDATE: 5/6/24 1 p.m. -- Cornell University has confirmed to WENY News that Blake Curtis is an officer with the Cornell University Police Department. According to the university, he was not on duty at the time of the crash, and has been placed on administrative leave. 

ITHACA, NY (WENY) -- According to New York State Police, a college student was LifeFlighted after he was hit by a car around 1:30 a.m. on May 4th.

Police said they initially responded to a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound on the 1500 block of Slaterville Rd. in the town of Ithaca. State Police said the driver called 911 immediately.

Troopers identified the driver as 30-year-old Blake A. Curtis from Ithaca and is charged with vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated.

The investigation is ongoing and police said more information will be released when it's available.
