CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) - Another Corning rugby player is set to compete at the next level. On Wednesday, Kylie Richards signed her National Letter of Intent to Division II Emory and Henry University.

Richards joined the Corning Lions Rugby Club in 2020, and last year, she helped the team to their first New York State Girls Rugby Championship. After winning a state title, Richards and the Lions were invited to play in the Elite Girls Rugby League where they won matches against other emerging teams.

Kylie also excels in the classroom with a 3.7 GPA. She is on the high honor roll and is on track to graduate with advanced designation in both math and science.

Richards plans to study Nursing at Emory & Henry, and she is ready to compete for a program that just finished its inaugural season.

I'm so grateful for all of my teammates and my coaches who have helped me come to this moment and I'm so excited to play with my new coach and new teammates, it's going to be a really exciting year for me," Richards said. I don't

Kylie also discussed why she chose Emory & Henry.

"It was really far away and I didn't really think I wanted to go that far but when I got there is was very homey, it wasn't right in the city or anything, the campus is pretty big for a smaller school, and the coaches and the teammates made me feel very welcomed," Richards said.

"I don't really know where they're going to put me but I'm really excited to try anything and everything really," she added.
