CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) -- Chemung County is looking to get public input on developing three new long-term plans for the county. Chemung County is launching a year-long process to create a new Comprehensive Plan, Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan and Long-Range Transportation Plan.

"Input from community members is critical to ensuring our plans reflect the needs and desires of those who
live and work in Chemung County," said Planning Commissioner Kevin Meindl in a prepared statement, adding, "We encourage everyone to share their ideas to help shape a vibrant, sustainable future for the County.

The first workshop is scheduled for Thursday, May 30th at the Ernie Davis Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. During the workshop there will be an overview of the planning process and an opportunity to participate in small group discussions.

According to the County, The Comprehensive Plan will provide a shared vision and priorities to guide policies around land use, housing, economic development, recreation, and more. The Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan be designed to find ways to support the local agricultural economy and preserve valuable farmland. And the e Long-Range Transportation Plan will outline goals and strategies for the county's transportation system over the next 20 years.
