ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Elmira's Southside Community Center received a $3,000 donation from The Elmira Kiwanis Club. The donation will be used to upgrade technology needs at the center.

The money will go towards purchasing laptops, interactive teaching tools, and virtual reality kits. Executive Director of the center, Kim Stanton, said all the old technology was outdated and needed to be replaced.

Now, staff members can support the kids and their educational needs after school.

"These are great kids that just need opportunities and that's our goal," Stanton said. "We're kind of reinventing the center right now...to provide them with opportunities they might not otherwise have."

Elmira Kiwanis plans to continue their work with the Southside Community Center to provide support and assist Elmira's students in need.
