TIOGA COUNTY, PA (WENY) -- Pennsylvania State Police told WENY News Thursday that an autopsy has been performed on the human remains discovered near the car of a missing 84-year-old woman in Brookfield Township. While more testing is needed, police say they are confident the remains are that of Phyllis Potter of Westfield, who had been missing since late July.

While the autopsy has been performed, police say the remains that were discovered were mostly skeletal, and that more testing is needed before they can absolutely confirm they belong to Potter. Police added that foul play is not suspected in Potter's death.

After missing for months, Potter's Subaru was discovered on Sunday, Oct. 29th, near a cornfield off of North Fork Road. The remains police currently believe to be Potter's were discovered not far from the vehicle.
