TOWANDA, PA (WENY) -- Pennsylvania State Police and the Bradford County District attorney hosted a press conference Monday regarding the investigation into the murder of 40-year-old Michael Pruitt.

On March 11, state police arrested three people in connection to Pruitt's murder. Pruitt's girlfriend, Ronda Parker, and her estranged husband, Terry Parker, are each charged with Criminal Homicide. Terry Parker's current girlfriend, along with both Ronda and Terry, are charged Abuse of a Corpse, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Terry Parker is accused of shooting Michael Pruitt multiple times in the home of Ronda Parker. According to state police, Terry and Ronda then wrapped up Pruitt's body, put it in the trunk of Terry's car and drove to Harrisburg, where they spent the night. They later returned to Ronda's home in Bradford County, along with Terry's girlfriend Summer Heil, where Terry Parker and Heil are accused of removing Pruitt's body from the trunk, dismembering him, and then burning him in a burn pit on Ronda Parker's property, where the remains were later found.

Pennsylvania State Police say around 4AM on March 11, troopers were made aware of text messages between Ronda Parker and Terry Parker.

"Those text messages indicated that someone had been killed, their body disposed of, and attempts were made to conceal and clean a crime scene," said Lt. Derek Felsman.

Lt. Felsman says they responded to the crime scene, identified in court documents as the home of Ronda Parker. There, police say they found human remains.

By 3PM the afternoon of March 11, Ronda Parker, Terry Parker and Summer Heil were in police custody, with Terry Parker and Heil being apprehended in the Harrisburg area and brought back to Bradford County.

Parker, Parker, and Heil were arraigned in District Court in Troy at approximately 3AM on Tuesday, March 12th. They remain in the Bradford County Correctional Facility without bail.

According to information the Affidavit of Probable Cause for Ronda Parker, she was asked by troopers why Terry Parker would want to kill Michael Pruitt. Ronda Parker told police that Terry Parker was concerned the victim had been sexually inappropriate with his daughters, and that Terry Parker was also jealous of the victim's relationship with Ronda.

The Affidavit of Probable Cause also details statements by Summer Heil, who also reportedly told police that it had been discovered that the victim had masturbated in front of Ronda Parker's two children, ages 13 and 4. The documents state Heil told troopers she was worried Terry Parker would kill Pruitt, because Parker was so mad about what he had learned.

State police addressed the allegations of the actions by Pruitt in their press conference Monday.

"There are also allegations of purported sexual acts by our victim that were made in the presence of juveniles. That is actively being investigated as we speak. I can confirm today that those allegations of purported sexual acts by the victim had not been previously reported to state police, they had not been reported to ChildLine [Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services], and they had not been reported to any law enforcement agency," Lt. Felsman said.

Bradford County District Attorney Richard Wilson also addressed the media during Monday's press conference, and discussed the potential of the death penalty being on the table in the case.

"Pennsylvania law does allow for the death penalty. And the death penalty is something that that would be potentially, based on the allegations in you may have read in the police Criminal Complaint and Affidavit of Probable Cause, the death penalty could be appropriate in this case," DA Wilson said. "Currently under Pennsylvania law, a single aggravating circumstance is required to justify the death penalty's application under Pennsylvania law. And in this case, the fact that a one year old child was present at the time of the death of Michael Pruitt, that could be an aggravating circumstance to justify the Commonwealth seeking the death penalty in this case."

Wilson says he is unable to make that decision based on the evidence before him at this time, but he expects to make that decision following a preliminary hearing, but before a formal arraignment.

Parker, Parker, and Heil are scheduled to appear in District Court in Troy on March 27th. Wilson said that is likely to be rescheduled, and transferred to the Bradford County courthouse in Towanda.
