    A historic part of Elmira's history is being brought back to life. As it nears its completion, a building once part of the city's Civil War Prison Camp is about to be open to the public. The restoration has been in the works for almost four years, after the nonprofit, Friends of the Elmira Civil War Prison Camp, took on the task. They've used all the original wood and constructed the building where it once stood on Winsor Ave in 1864.

    (WENY) - As we get closer to summer, local state parks are opening their trails for the season. At Watkins Glen State Park, the South Rim and Indian Trails are open. The Gorge Trail is also open, but there's no access from the main entrance because of construction. All trails at Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca and Taughannock Falls in Trumansburg are open for the season. At Robert H. Treman State Park, the "cliff stairs" on the Rim Trail are open.

    ELMIRA, NY (WENY) - Police arrested a man for allegedly stealing a mobility scooter from the Centertown Parking Garage in Elmira. Elmira Police posted security footage of the allegedly larceny on Facebook Friday. They said the victim was an elderly, disabled U.S. Army Vet who had temporarily left the scooter unattended in her personal parking spot. The mobility scooter was recovered outside of the Holiday Inn on E. Water Street. The suspect was found in Heritage Park and arrested. ...

    ELMIRA (WENY) -- An Elmira man is facing a slew of charges after he resisted arrest in the city of Elmira Friday Night. Dylan Goodman is charged with two counts of resisting arrest and one count of menacing. The program provides some funding for projects that improve water quality, protecting drinking water sources, reduce polluted runoff, and restore habitats in New York's waterbodies. Municipalities, soil and water conservation districts, and not-for-profit corporations are eligible to apply. Recipients can be reimbursed between 40% to 80% of the project costs, depending ...
