In the scenario, residents are believed to have been exposed to Hepatitis A from produce they consumed at a local grocery store.

    Elmira, N.Y. (WENY) - 49 cats were found in an Elmira home after being left behind by evicted tenants. According to their Facebook page, Elmira Animal Control officers were called to 524 West Clinton Street to help police with a tenant eviction. It was there that they found the 49 cats. It was determined that none of the abandoned animals were spayed or neutered and some of the females were pregnant.

    The Southern Tier is home to some of the state's most distressed economies. That's according to the March jobless report from the New York State Department of Labor. Elmira was at the bottom of the list, with a decline of 1.6% in private-sector employment from March 2017. Binghamton also saw a decline, landing in the fourth-worst employment spot.  Meanwhile, Ithaca was named in the best of the state. The city saw a 4% increase in private-sector employment.

(WENY) - Hundreds of people are expected to attend Congregation Kol Ami's 10th annual Jewish Food Festival on Sunday.  The congregation's kitchen is preparing authentic foods ranging anywhere from Jewish deli, soups, dairy, to Israeli street food, bakery items and beverages. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. That includes $3 in food tickets. Kids ages 13 and under are free with an adult. The event runs from 11:00am to 3:00pm.

    WAYLAND, N.Y. (WENY) -- New York State Police have made an arrest in the case of a string of burglaries that took place in the towns of Jasper and Troupsburg in 2017.  28-year-old Zachary Barber of Westfield, Pa. was arrested by New York State Police after an indictment warrant was filed, charging him with Burglary.  Barber was arraigned in Steuben County Superior Court and released on his own recognizance.

Wind gusts were, and still continue to be in excess of 30-45 mph across the Twin Tiers with wind chills now in the lower 20s.
